MTI Introduces a new Photoplate to its line of High Resolution Photoglass. This plate is called the "K1A" plate. It has a thin silver halide emulsion with resolution in the sub micron range when exposed with monochromatic light. The Plate is a backed photoplate in that there is a red anti-halation backing on the back of the glass.

This is an orthochromatic emulsion and is sensitive to blue and green with red being used as the safelight. For brighter working illumination a sodium lamp may be used As well.

The gelatin is filtered to sub micron levels to keep the clear areas clean. The plate has a low sensitivity to safe light fog and maintains a minimal background density. There is undetectable Chemical Fog when processed in the MTI D-5 Negative Developer.

For our customers using this plate in the photomask making industry you will find it easy to use in both the negative and reversal process. Photomasks with the finest resolution down to one micron geometries can be made. Photomask specifications can be held to extremely tight tolerances with the K1A plate. Photomasks either clear field or dark field will yield the same quality.

It is our recommendation with focused projection printing that the light path is filtered to a narrow band of light that matches the color correction of the optics. The shorter wavelengths of light will yield a higher resolution. If green is the choice of wavelength to be used we recommend a Kodak Wratten 58 green filter in front of the light source.

For use in contact printing we recommend using the Green 58 filter when geometry Sizes 2 microns and larger are to be imaged. If a broad band Mercury Arc lamp is used and geometry resolution goes below 2 microns we recommend a very narrow band of blue, violet or ultraviolet to be used.

For Microradiography , Holography and Photomask Making uses you will note the good flatness of the glass as well as the uniformity of the coating is excellent. This plate comes in any cut sizes as follows :
  1. For .060" Thickness:1"x3" and all sizes up to 17x17"
  2. For .090" Thickness; 1"x3" and all sizes up to 17x17"
  3. For .190" Thickness, 8"x10" and all sizes up to 24"x32"
